Heinz Beanz unveils two Houmouz dips

Heinz has launched its new Beanz Houmouz, in two flavours including Original and Roasted Butternut Squash.

Unlike typical chickpea houmous, both of Heinz’s variants are made with haricot beans – used in the iconic Heinz baked beans.

Kraft Heinz new ventures director for Beanz Liberation Lucila Ardalla explained that people under estimate the nutritional value that their beans hold.

“Here at Heinz, we’re in the midst of a Beanz revolution, finding new and exciting ways to liberate our beloved Heinz Beanz out of their can and into new formats, flavours and tastes,” Ardalla said.

“Our new Beanz Houmouz follows the success of our Beanz Burgers launch last year and is just one example of many more formats to come that will ensure future generations can enjoy this brilliantly British food”.

The Original variant of Beanz Houmouz offers a smooth haricot bean blend with roasted tomatoes, sesame tahini and extra virgin olive oil. It is also seasoned with lemon juice, garlic, cumin and topped with extra tomato.

The Butternut Squash flavour on the other hand has blended haricot beans with roasted butternut squash, sesame tahini and extra virgin olive oil. It also includes lemon juice, garlic, rosemary with added sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds on top.

Later this summer, the range will also expect a Chipotle Chilli flavour which has a sweet roasted pepper base as well as cumin, chipotle chilli and cayenne pepper.

Ardalla added: “We’re un-bean-lievably excited to be continuing our plant powered story by launching our very first Beanz Houmouz range, made using our iconic beans. The result? A deliciously creamy and smooth texture unlike most traditional chickpea based houmous you’ve tasted before.

“But that’s not all. We’ve got even more delicious ways to enjoy our famous Beanz coming very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!”.

Additionally, the recipe boasts all natural colours and flavours – with no preservatives. The bean-based snack is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Heinz Beanz Houmouz Original and Roasted Butternut Squash are currently available on Ocado for £2, with further supermarket listings to be revealed later this year.
