Richmond is set to expand into the frozen ready meals category for the first time this upcoming September, with a range of home-cooked style dishes.

The brand is launching six new products which will be stocked in Iceland, Sainsbury’s, Farmfoods and Morrisons across September and October.

This move aims to broaden Richmond’s presence in frozen, with the expansion into ready meals creating a significant growth opportunity for the brand beyond its core sausage offering.

The new non-HFSS range was developed to bring home-cooked style meals to the frozen category and offer shoppers the convenience of classic family favourites in ready-prepared formats.

This extension is a direct response to the growing consumer demand for convenient meal solutions, especially among older shoppers according to the business.

The six products are Sausage & Mash, Toad in the Hole, Sausage Pasta Bake, Cottage Pie, Sausage Casserole and Sausage Mac & Cheese.

Lauren Pizey, head of brand, Richmond at Pilgrim’s Europe, said: “Our new frozen meals bring the comfort and quality of home-cooked British favourites into a convenient, no-fuss format.

“We’ve developed the range in collaboration with Richmond consumers and by understanding what they needed, we were able to shape and refine our meals to deliver a menu of delicious dishes.”

Additionally, the business is also growing its existing sausage range with three new variants, Cumberland Pork Sausages, Dinky Caramelised Onion Sausages and Pigs in Blankets.

These launches will be supported by shopper communications and retailer activity which is focused on driving awareness and encouraging trial.

The marketing will also be boosted by broader brand support planned to follow as the ranges land in supermarkets.
