Surreal, founded in 2021 by former Vita Coco pair Jac Chetland and Kit Gammell, has expanded beyond cereal with single-serve protein overnight oats pouches.

The low-sugar cereal brand’s overnight oats will be available in six flavours. Each pouch contains oats, soya protein, seeds and freeze-dried fruit, with 20g of protein and around 275 to 287 calories per serving. The products are also high in fibre and low in sugar.

The range can be eaten cold as overnight oats, heated as porridge or blended with milk into a shake. Surreal said the pouches only need a five-minute soak, rather than being left overnight.

The six-strong line-up includes Chocolate, Honey, Salted Caramel, Strawberry, Peanut Butter and Banana flavours. All are available on Surreal’s dedicated direct-to-consumer site.

In March, M&S overhauled its breakfast cereals lineup, rolling out a wide set of new and reformulated products intended to emphasise simple, recognisable ingredients and to broaden healthier choices for shoppers.

The retailer is leaning into a clean‑label approach that mirrors recent launches of limited‑ingredient pantry staples.

While, Asda plans to donate almost 200 tonnes of breakfast cereal to support families facing food insecurity through a partnership with Alliance Food Sourcing and Felix.

The donation will see the retailer provide a newly created cereal made from its private-label porridge oats and museli to ensure a steady supply of key cupboard staples to households in need.
