Saputo has announced its acquisition of Wensleydale Dairy Products for £23 million.
The new addition to the Canadian company joins its growing portfolio of UK dairy brands, which includes its recent acquisition of Sheese producer Bute Island Foods in May this year and Cathedral Cheddar in July 2019.
The brand creates its products using milk from 40 local farms and its own cheesemaking starter cultures.

“Wensleydale Dairy Products is home to an immense amount of passion, care, and tradition,” Saputo chair and chief executive Lina A. Saputo said.
“Not only is it a well-established British business with high-quality products and award-winning cheeses, but our corporate cultures are well-aligned, and I’m delighted to welcome the entire team into the Saputo family.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of this month, subject to UK regulatory requirements.
