M&S opens new food store in Oxfordshire
M&S opened a new food store in Abingdon, Oxfordshire yesterday, as part of its grocery business expansion.
The new 18,000 sq ft store offers a range of fresh produce from M&S’ Select Farm partners, dedicated wine and flower shops and a cheese barge located in the centre of the store.
Additionally, there are in-store bakeries and coffee counters which provide a selection of bread and pastries alongside barista-made hot drinks.
The retailer stocked its private label range of Remarksable Value products, which has been recently expanded to include staple vegetables.
The store also offers a click & collection point for shoppers placing online fashion, home and beauty orders.

This opening has created 75 new jobs, with seven staff members hired through the retailer’s employability scheme, which aims to support those at a disadvantage on their job hunt.
M&S store manager Paddy Sunderland said: “The team has done an amazing job getting the store ready, and we’re proud to bring the very best of M&S Food – from trusted value to exceptional quality – to customers.
“We have everything customers need for their shopping list at the store, including our Bigger Pack Better Value range, which is perfect for families.”
This move is part of the brand’s push towards doubling the size of its grocery business to win more family shoppers.
Last month the retailer opened the doors to three new stores located in Luton, Farnham and Westway Chelmsford.
