M&S launches pre-paid loyalty subscription

Marks and Spencer has soft launched Sparks Plus, a premium paid-for loyalty tier, encouraging customers to sign up to receive “VIP treatment”.

Under the VIP tariff, which costs £12- a year, unlimited delivery is offered, alongside, a £10 voucher and free hot drink.

The new subscription service offers members perks worth over £200 on top of existing Sparks benefits.

Members will also receive a gift, invites to store events, double charity donations and more exclusive benefits.

However, this comes as shoppers slammed M&S for its Christmas offering via its Sparks app in December, branding the 12 days of Sparks as “underwhelming”.

Although, some users bagged themselves chocolates, mince pies, gin snow globes and light-up biscuit tins, others were less impressed receiving prizes like satsumas, hand creams and money off vouchers.

“We are setting out to create better connected and smoother payment solutions across M&S.com, our app and stores nationwide,” M&S services director, Kirsty Ward said in October.
