Aldi is set to sell nearly 50 million mince pies this Christmas as shoppers flock to discount grocers amid the cost-of-living crisis.
The supermarket giant also predicts it will sell over 38 million pigs in blankets as it prepares for what it claims will be Aldi’s ‘biggest Christmas ever’.
This comes as recent Kantar data found that Aldi is currently the fastest-growing supermarket and 1.5 million new customers shopped at one of its stores in the 12 weeks to 30 October.
Last week, Aldi was also named the cheapest supermarket for a Christmas dinner this year while families are looking to buy cheaper food options as inflation hit 11.1% earlier this month.
According to research by self storage provider Ready Steady Store, for a family of six, Aldi costs £25.49 for a festive feast.

“Shoppers have started to think about Christmas even earlier this year,” Aldi UK and Ireland chief executive, Giles Hurley said.
“While it’s a wonderful time where families come together, there is no doubt that many households are having to plan their spending over the festive period much more carefully, and many of those households are realising that Aldi is the only place to shop for an amazing Christmas at an affordable price.
“The price gap between Aldi and the traditional, full price supermarkets is only getting wider, and millions of shoppers are switching to Aldi as a result.”
Hurley added: “Our unbreakable promise to our customers is that we will always offer the lowest prices of any supermarket, whether it’s a normal weekly shop or all they need for a fantastic Christmas.”
