Managing director of buying at Aldi Julie Ashfield said: “As summer draws to a close and families begin preparing to go back to school or university, August and September can represent financially challenging months for many.

“However, with fifteen consecutive months as the UK’s cheapest supermarket, families can rest assured that they can rely on us for great quality products at the lowest possible prices, and that we’ll continue to support our customers in these testing times.”

The discounter is also offering a range of student essentials for the start of term.

Ashfield added: “As the cost of kitting out new digs can quickly add up, Aldi has launched a must-have range of student essentials featuring everything from bedding and décor to pots, pans, and air fryers – with prices starting from as little as £1.99.

“Available in stores now, shoppers will need to hurry as with all Specialbuys once they’re gone, they’re gone.”

Last week, Aldi lowered its prices on a selection of fruit and vegetable products in its Everyday Essentials range, including strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes and spinach.
