Tesco is set to push up the price of its meal deal as of next week, marking the second time that the leading retailer has increased the cost of its lunchtime offering this year.
Currently priced at £3 for Clubcard holders, this will be rising to £3.40 from 24 October. For all other customers, a meal deal will be £3.90, up from £3.50.
In comparison, Big 4 grocer Sainsbury’s and Morrisons currently offer lunchtime meal deals priced at £3.50.
Although Tesco’s deal will be seeing a price increase, its components will stay the same, with shoppers able to purchase a main, drink and snack within the updated price point.
Speaking of the new change, Tesco said: “Clubcard members will pay just £3.40 for a main, snack and drink, making our meal deal an ideal way to grab a great value lunch on-the-go.
“And with savings of up to £3 on millions of possible combinations across our stores, including the recent addition of Costa hot drinks, and our ever-popular Christmas sandwiches which join the meal deal for the festive period, we’ve got something for every taste.”
This comes following Tesco’s first meal deal price rise in February which saw its £3 lunchtime offering, which has until now remained the same price for the last ten years for Clubcard members, hiked to £3.50 for those not signed up to its loyalty programme.
