Co-op has extended its online delivery hours up to 4am across 130 stores ahead of the England and Mexico World Cup football match.

The convenience retailer extended its online delivery hours for the group stage matches and will continue to offer the service as the England team progresses.

Some of the most popular orders include beers and soft drinks, which is boosted by the retailer’s promotion of two pizzas and four beers for £5 for members.

Additionally, the c-store retailer expects the sales of items such as Magnum ice cream and other frozen favourites to increase among online consumers as the temperatures rise again.

Co-op is working alongside its major delivery partners Uber Eats, Just Eat, Deliveroo and Amazon to ensure shoppers can get match-night essentials, drinks and shareable foods.

Gary Kisby, Co-op’s Q-commerce trading director, said: “As we go deeper into the tournament, excitement and anticipation is growing for fans. Sport is such a great occasion for people to come together – even at 1am.

“Working with our delivery partners, we are supporting shoppers by extending online trading hours from more than 100 stores. Great savings and deals are available online, and with food and drink delivered quickly and conveniently to your door, fans don’t have to miss a moment of the match.”

The retailer’s quick commerce model sees local stores serve as micro distribution hubs in communities to ensure orders are picked up fresh and delivered quickly.
