Amazon Fresh opens three new store locations in London

Amazon Fresh has opened three new locations in Euston, Wandsworth and Chingford, London.

The stores offer a wide selection of its private food brand “by Amazon” and checkout-free shopping to more customers.

As a result of the new openings, there are now 15 stores across London all of which opened this year.

Its stores are powered by the ecommerce giants “Just Walk Out” technology, which automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves.

At the end of their shopping trip, customers are charged via their Amazon accounts and can leave the store without the need to queue or checkout.

Customers do not require an Amazon Prime account and are emailed their receipt once they have left the store.

“Since opening our first Amazon Fresh store in Ealing, we’ve heard from our customers how much they enjoy the tasty food from our new ‘by Amazon’ range and the effortless shopping experience,” Matt Birchdirector of Amazon Fresh UK said.

Amazon has picked up the pace of its brick-and-mortar offerings in the UK.

This month alone, Amazon Fresh has opened seven more store locations in Angel, Richmond, Aldgate, Hounslow, Euston, Wandsworth and Chingford.

The news comes after earlier this year, leaked documents indicated the tech giants intend to create 260 till-free convenience stores across the country to “catch up” to Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
