Co-op group commercial & logistics strategy director Tom Bradley is leaving the retailer to join Deliveroo.

Bradley, who has spent almost six years at Co-op, will depart the business this summer before joining the on-demand delivery giant as commercial director later this year.

In a LinkedIn post, he said his departure marked “the end of a chapter”, adding that he was “incredibly proud” of what had been achieved during his time with the retailer.

Bradley said Co-op had continued to transform its business over the past six years, including reducing net debt, relaunching its membership proposition, growing its wholesale and online channels, developing new strategic partnerships, and forming the Group Commercial & Logistics function.

He also pointed to the challenges the business had navigated during that period, including Covid-19, the Russia-Ukraine war, soaring inflation, disruption linked to the conflict in the Middle East, and a major cyber incident.

“Throughout every single challenge and opportunity, one thing has remained consistent – relationships,” Bradley said.

“The support of our suppliers and industry partners, alongside the collaboration across our respective teams has been fundamental to everything both I personally, alongside the wider business, has achieved and delivered.”

Bradley said the food industry remained “as dynamic and unpredictable as ever”, adding that he remained in awe of its “resilience, adaptability and underlying strength”.

Speaking about his new role at Deliveroo, he said: “I’m looking forward to being part of a fast-paced, ambitious and rapidly growing business as it continues its exciting journey.”

Deliveroo has been expanding its grocery and retail partnerships as it looks to grow beyond restaurant delivery, working with retailers including Co-op, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Boots.
