Ferrero recalls Nutella Croissants over metal contamination risk

News

Ferrero has recalled selected batches of frozen Nutella Croissants in the UK over fears they may contain metal.

The company said the recall affects specific frozen bakery products distributed across several European markets, including the UK.

In Europe, the recall covers selected batches of Nutella Croissant and Nutella Muffin. However, Ferrero said only Nutella Croissant is impacted in the UK.

The affected UK products are Nutella Croissant 340g four-packs with batch codes L126Z39 and L127Z39.

Products carrying batch code L126Z39 have a best before date of 6 May 2027, while those with batch code L127Z39 have a best before date of 7 May 2027.

Lidl has also issued a customer notice for Nutella Croissant 340g, warning shoppers not to eat the product due to the possible presence of metal foreign bodies, which may present a choking hazard.

Customers who have bought the affected product are being urged not to consume it and to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Ferrero said food safety authorities had been informed in the countries affected and that it was working with customers and partners to ensure the products are removed from the market.

The company stressed that the recall is limited to specific batches and that no other Ferrero products are affected.

The recall applies to selected batches distributed in Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Ferrero’s UK recall notice said consumers who may have purchased the affected products should not eat them and should return them to the place they bought them from.

Ferrero is one of the world’s largest sweet-packaged food businesses and owns brands including Nutella, Kinder, Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac and Thorntons.
