Amazon has axed its own-brand ready meals from the byAmazon range in-store and online, replacing them with Morrisons products.

The retailer will instead stock a selection of products from Morrisons’ ‘The Best’ range, as it is understood the supermarket is the supplier for the byAmazon range, following a partnership with the e-commerce giant which formed in 2016, The Grocer reported.

A spokesperson told the title: “Like all retailers, we continually review our range and test new selections with customers.”

The now discontinued own-brand ready meals is one of several categories the byAmazon range covers, including grocery staples such as dairy, meat and seasonal produce, as well as ‘food-to-go’ sandwiches.

The decision comes despite Amazon having expanded its own-brand range in 2024, with the launch of baking, confectionery, cereal, and pasta products.

Last year also saw the business expand its retail footprint, opening its first new store in a year just in time for the festive season, following three site closures in 2023.

However, in May its online services shrunk, with the company halting its grocery delivery service in five UK cities following an evaluation of its offerings and operations network.

Earlier this month, the retail giant kicked off the year with a £1 meal deals campaign for customers across London, with a range featuring both own-brand and branded options.
