Oatly appoints new general manager Bryan Caroll to expand UK partnerships

Oatly has appointed Bryan Carroll as its new general manager, who will be responsible for leading the company into its next phase of growth in the UK.

Carroll started work at the plant-based milk brand last month – where he has been looking into expanding its partnerships across foodservice and advertising channels.

He will be replacing Ishen Paran in the role, who announced his resignation via LinkedIn last week as he looks to spend more time with his family.

Bringing 25 years of leadership experience across retail and foodservice, Bryan Carroll previously worked in senior commercial roles across a number of brands including PepsiCo, Walkers, Tropicana and Quaker.

Most recently, he served as deputy COO of Mizkan Europe, which includes established brands such as Branston. He will report to the COO for Oatly, Daniel Ordonez.

“I am delighted to be joining Oatly at such a pivotal moment for the brand,” Carroll said.

“Our global food system is broken and a shift towards plant-based products must be part of the solution.”

Daniel Ordonez commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Bryan, whose wide-ranging achievements across the entire food and drinks category make him an ideal candidate to help rapidly accelerate our growth in the UK.

“We are so grateful to Ishen for the past six years and the phenomenal achievements he and the team have delivered in the UK in that time,” Ordonez added.

“Ishen built the UK team from the ground up that has gone on to deliver 10x turnover and secure Oatly’s hero SKU – Barista Edition – as the no1 selling dairy alternative drink in the market.”

The news comes as Oatly reported financial results “below expectations” as it looked to lower its staff numbers and cut costs across the business in November.
