Some UK supermarkets are closing its doors for longer periods of time during the Christmas period, to give staff more time off to say thank you for all their hard work.
Grocery Gazette has rounded up a list of opening and closing times this Christmas break.
However, opening hours will vary from branch to branch.

Tesco
The Big 4 grocer’s stores are only shut on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The store will remain open on Christmas Eve and 23 December.

Asda
The supermarket giant, will operate from 6am on 23 December till 11pm, with stores opening from 6am-7pm on Christmas Eve.
Asda will close on Christmas Day and reopen at 9am on Boxing Day, until 4pm.

Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s will be open from 6am to 7pm on Christmas Eve but closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The opening times for December 23 are yet to be confirmed by the supermarket.

Aldi
The newly-appointed Big 4 grocer will remain open from 7am to 10pm on 23 December, with limited hours from 7am-6pm on Christmas Eve.
Staff will also have the day off on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, as a thank you from the discounter.

Lidl
Discount retailer Lidl will close its doors on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
However, it will remain open from 7am to 10pm on 23 December and operate from 7am to 6pm on Christmas Eve.

Morrisons
The former Big 4 grocer, will only close on Christmas Day, and reopen from 9am on Boxing Day until 6pm.
It will also be open from 6am to midnight on 23 December and operate from 6am-6pm on Christmas Eve.

Waitrose
- Christmas Eve: 7am-6pm
- Christmas Day: Closed
- Boxing Day: Closed
However, these timings are with the exception of those stores in motorway service stations and Shell forecourts, some which will be open 24 hours.

M&S
The retailer will also be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with opening times on 23 December from 6am to 11pm.
M&S will also be open from 6am to 7pm on Christmas Eve.
