WATCH: Tesco Christmas 2022 ad promises an ‘affordable, joyful’ festive season

Tesco has revealed its Christmas 2022 ad, which will be airing in full for the first time on Sunday 6 November during ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, and promises to deliver an ‘affordable, joyful’ festive season for all.

The new festive campaign from the UK’s largest supermarket recognises that that “joy may be in short supply at the moment” and aims to help shoppers “celebrate in style”, regardless of their budget.

Set to the soundtrack of Europe’s ‘The Final Countdown’, the advert reveals that Tesco has formed ‘The Christmas Party’, a fictional political party which pledges to bring joy in the form of banished bedtimes and a regular bin day.

The 60-second ad also draws attention to highlights from the supermarket’s festive food range as well as some of its seasonal offers such as a Christmas dinner for five for under £25, and 3 for 2 deals on party food.

According to Tesco’s own research of over 2,000 consumers, over a third (36%) of those surveyed believe Christmas is more important this year than ever before, while more than a quarter (26%) are looking forward to it more than usual.

Some 87% of people also said Christmas brings them joy, with the campaign highlighting that Christmas remains important to many, despite the cost-of-living crisis putting pressure on finances.

Tesco chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said it was “very important” that the seasonal campaign reflects “how customers genuinely feel”.

“We understand that it is a tough time at the moment with everyone’s finances under pressure, but we also know that people are looking forward to Christmas – in fact our research shows that there is even more excitement around it than usual.

“This is why we decided to officially stand up for joy this Christmas,” she continued.

“We want to help everyone enjoy the best bits of Christmas, no matter their budget, and so we’ve also included just some of our many little helps that will make your money go further. From us all at Tesco, we wish you a very merry Christmas.”
