Ornua Foods has appointed Simon Ball as its new managing director to lead the dairy company’s growth and development across the UK.

This will see Ball taking over the role from Bill Hunter, who is now finance director for Ornua’s global foods division.

Prior to his new appointment, Ball held several positions in the food manufacturing sector and was most recently business unit director at Greencore for its dedicated M&S production site in Northampton.

Previously positioned at M&S as the supermarket giants head of trading for fresh produce and horticulture, Ball has also been the managing director of a division at Asda owned company, IPL and managing director of two divisions at William Jackson Food Group.

Speaking of his new role at Ornua Foods UK, Ball said: “I am delighted to join Ornua Foods UK at what is an exciting time for both the business and the wider sector.

“Given the very challenging market environment for all in food and drink, it is clearly more important than ever for Ornua to build on its established reputation of delivering best-in-class efficiencies, customer service, and category expertise to our retail customers.

He added: “I am confident we have the key fundamentals in place to enhance our position and accelerate sustainable growth, namely great people, products, partners, and state-of-the-art processing facilities.

“As such, I’m looking forward to working with our team here in Leek, and the wider Ornua team, to grow and develop the business further.”
