Iceland launches dedicated online Christmas page to establish early orders

Iceland has launched its dedicated online Christmas page two months ahead of time to establish early frozen food orders.

The frozen goods retailer is suggesting that shoppers “spread the cost of Christmas” by buying sooner rather than later.

There are already hundreds of Christmas products available from Iceland, including festive classics like mince pies, pigs in blankets and gammon joints.

The product listing page reads “It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas,” at the bottom, with a wide selection of groceries available.

Launching the page, Iceland said it was seeing “people getting ready for the big day earlier than usual” for the second year in a row.

Last year, after it launched a Christmas page early in October 2021, Iceland said it had seen a spike in online searches for ‘Christmas’ as early as July.

The frozen food retailer also seems to have been preparing for the 2022 World Cup, kicking off on 20 November in Qatar, as it has reportedly trademarked the phrases ‘sausage goals’ and ‘pie goals’.

Commenting on the upcoming football and festive season is Aldi UK & Ireland CEO, Giles Hurley, who said: “It’s certainly a more fluid Christmas than I’ve ever known, because of course we’ve got the World Cup to throw in there too,”

He added: “And if one of the home nations performs, it could make for a really interesting celebration.”

The news comes as Iceland and The Food Warehouse has revealed it is shutting all its stores on Boxing Day, to give its colleagues a well-earned rest.
