Waitrose parent company to recruit 10,000 temporary workers over Christmas period

Waitrose and its parent company, John Lewis are set to recruit 10,000 temporary roles across the UK to meet increased demand over the Christmas period.

The expansion of seasonal workforce will see the retailer recruiting 4,000 roles across its 331 Waitrose stores including  supermarket assistants, night shift workers and customer delivery drivers.

An additional 4,000 roles will also be spread across the company’s supply chain as warehouse workers and drivers.

The move comes as Waitrose looks to support its current Partners as an increased volume of orders is expected to be placed during the festive season.

“We are looking forward to welcoming people across the country to grow our team and ensure we deliver a great Christmas for our customers.”

This news comes as Waitrose has announced it will be offering its Partners and temporary workers free food from 3 October to 6 January as it looks to help its colleagues during the cost-of-living crisis.

The grocery retailer also announced that its full-time Waitrose Partners are set to receive a one-off cost of living payment of £500 alongside an increase in entry level pay which will benefit 70% of the its employees.
