Sainsbury’s signs lease for new 68,374 sq ft distribution facility

Sainsbury’s has signed a 15 year lease on a brand new 68,374 sq ft industrial unit set to be practically completed this month.

The distribution facility located at Guinness Point in Trafford Park will provide the Big 4 grocer with a prominent, high-quality building in a prime industrial and logistics location.

Developed by Harbert Management Corporation, the distribution facility will provide an increase of supply within the Trafford Park and wider Greater Manchester area.

The investment management firm has identified a current lack of supply within this location, despite the demand for it.

“Given the lack of development within Trafford Park, coupled with the prominent location and specification of the unit, it is no surprise that an excellent company such as Sainsburys has committed to the property,” CBRE’s industrial and logistics team director, Steve Capper said.

Harbert Management Corporation (Europe) LLC’s Howard Hill added: “We are excited to welcome Sainsburys Supermarkets Ltd to the Trafford Park portfolio.”

“It has been a pleasure to work in partnership with Sainsburys on the scheme and we look forward to seeing them operating from the unit very soon.”

“We have seen record levels of take-up and rental growth across the Trafford Park holding and occupancy levels remain at an all-time high.”

The news comes as Sainsbury’s has reported a drop in sales in its first quarter as CFO Kevin O’Byrne is to depart from the business.
