Pladis appoints new chief marketing officer

Pladis, the British confectionery and snack company encompassing McVitie’s and Jacob’s, has appointed Aslı Özen Turhan as chief marketing officer (CMO) for UK & Ireland, replacing Caroline Hipperson.

The decision comes after Pladis announced Hipperson’s appointment as vice president of business development for the global organisation.

Hipperson is set to join the global team, reporting directly to chief executive officer Salman Amin to support the new portfolio opportunities globally.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Caroline for her outstanding contribution to the UK&I team,” Pladis UK managing director David Murray said.

“She leaves a strong legacy behind her, having led the repositioning of several major UK household brands and a step-changed innovation agenda. We wish her all the best, and look forward to working with her in her new role.”

From 21 February,  Turhan will assume the role of CMO after being the CMO for Pladis’ Turkey region for several years.

Over the last 18 years, Turhan has worked for Pladis Masterbrand, Ülker, where she helped earn the brand various awards.

This comes after Turhan was named one of the top chief marketing officers in Turkey by Fortune Magazine.

Murray added: “We’re really pleased to welcome Asli to the UK&I team. A proven leader with a wealth of experience in portfolio development, innovation and brand building.

“She was instrumental in repositioning the Ülker Masterbrand as CMO for Turkey. She will be a valuable addition as we look to grow our heritage brands and further strengthen our marketing capabilities.”
