Ocado Retail’s Buy Women Built aisle now has over 1,500 products from 150 female-led businesses, which shows the online grocer’s commitment to driving visibility for the brands.

The initiative has been successful since its launch eighteen months ago, with over half (56 per cent) of Ocado customers purchasing a Buy Women Built product within the past year.

Additionally, total traffic to the aisle has increased by 288 per cent since the launch, with 24 per cent sales growth.

Many female-founded brands are seeing a strong growth in sales at the aisle, such as Woolf’s Kitchen, Balance Me and Creative Nature, which went up by 281 per cent, 132 per cent and 130 per cent respectively.

Hannah Gibson, CEO of Ocado Retail, said: “By providing smaller, female-founded brands with a platform at scale, we’ve seen that customers are actively choosing to support them, long since launch, and the growth figures speak for themselves.

“At Ocado Retail, we see it as our role to use our reach and tech to champion up-and-coming brands, alongside more established brands, to create a retail environment where great ideas can thrive and more founders have the opportunity to succeed.”

To mark International Women’s Day, Ocado has unveiled a promotional offer where customers can buy three products in the Buy Women Built aisle and get the cheapest one free until 24 March.

Additionally, the online retailer collaborated with Anya Hindmarch to create a special edition of the Universal reusable shopping bag exclusively available at Ocado from early March.
