Waitrose partners with Rick Stein for first-ever supermarket range

News

Waitrose has teamed up with chef Rick Stein to launch his first-ever supermarket range, with nine seafood dishes set to roll out from 7 October.

The exclusive Rick Stein with Waitrose collection will be available across 210 Waitrose stores and online, featuring a mix of year-round products and festive additions.

The range focuses on responsibly sourced British fish and seafood and includes British hake en papillote, Scottish Loch trout en papillote, panko white fish gratin and monkfish & whiting Indonesian curry.

Prices range from £6.50 for Shetland mussels with XO sauce and Cornish sardines, up to £16 for the monkfish & whiting curry.

Waitrose said the launch includes several new product innovations, including en papillote packaging designed to steam-cook the hake and trout in-pack.

The panko white fish gratin, priced at £14, offers a twist on traditional fish pie by replacing mashed potato with panko breadcrumbs and using smoked Scottish haddock in a lemon and miso béchamel sauce.

Festive lines will follow later in the year, including British lobster & crab Thermidor shells for £12, traditionally smoked Scottish salmon for £7.50 and a £53 Scottish salmon, British lobster & crab Thermidor en croute available through Waitrose Entertaining.

Rick Stein said: “In the new range with Waitrose, we’ve focused on fish you can feel confident about – thoughtfully sourced, full of flavour, and something to be enjoyed at home without any fuss.

“There’s a real sense of the British coast running through it, particularly Cornwall where it all began for me, but also the influence of the many places I’ve travelled and the flavours I’ve come to love along the way.”

Waitrose senior development chef Paul Gamble added: “Rick’s passion for seafood is legendary, and our goal was to capture that signature restaurant magic while making it completely effortless for our food-loving customers to cook at home.

“We’ve focused on showcasing the absolute best of responsibly sourced British fish.”

The retailer said all nine products use fish caught or farmed to its welfare and environmental sourcing standards.

The core Rick Stein with Waitrose range launches on 7 October, with the smoked salmon arriving from 25 November and the Thermidor shells and festive en croute available from 18 December.
