Sainsbury’s launches AI-powered tool SmartLists
Sainsbury’s has launched a new AI-powered tool designed to help customers plan their shop, create lists and find products easier.
The AI feature, SmartLists, allows customers to create shopping lists by typing or taking a photo of the products they require.
The AI tool then matches those lists to the retailer’s products, including Nectar Prices, so shoppers can view their options and budget accordingly.
Afterwards, products can be added straight to the trolley for online orders.
SmartLists was designed to save customers time, and photos of lists as well as searches for ingredients for a dish can be used to make planning a shop quicker.

“Alongside this, by bringing more of our services together in one app, we’re making it easier for customers to plan their shop, build their basket and find products in store, however and whenever they choose to shop with us.”
Addiitonally, as a part of the wider Sainsbury’s app upgrade, SmartShop was integrated into the newly unified app, which features the distinctive ‘S’ logo,
This upgrade consolidates online grocery orders, ChopChop, SmartLists, in-store SmartShop and Nectar experiences in one place, which allows customers to access more services through one app.
