Ocado Retail CEO Mel Smith is being celebrated for her bold leadership on International Women’s Day, as she has been shortlisted for the 2022 Bold Woman Awards by Veuve Clicquot.
This year’s shortlist for the 50-year-old awards programme which celebrates pioneering female leadership sees Smith in the running for the Bold Woman Award itself.
The flagship accolade celebrates excellent female leadership, honouring inspirational women with a proven record of business or organisational growth, underpinned by a commitment to supporting other women into leadership roles.
Smith, who joined Ocado Retail in 2019, impressed the judges due to the phenomenal growth Ocado Retail has seen under her leadership. The business has benefitted from her guidance and support during the pandemic, reporting a 40% increase in revenue over the past three years – faster than any other grocery retailer.

“It is an honour to be recognised alongside such brilliant individuals,” Smith said.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in September 2022.
