Aldi Scotland invests £8m in price cuts to support shoppers

Aldi Scotland has invested more than £8m in lowering prices across everyday essentials as households continue to face cost-of-living pressures.

The discounter said the investment, made during the first quarter of 2026, covered almost 500 products across fresh, frozen, ambient, household and personal care ranges.

Recent price reductions include Frasers Macaroni Cheese, which has fallen from £1.19 to £1.09, MacAulay’s Beef Olives, down from £3.75 to £3.59, and Frasers Premium Steak Lorne Sausage, reduced from £1.99 to £1.89.

Frasers Ready-Made Mince & Tatties has also dropped from £1.59 to £1.49.

Aldi Scotland director of buying Alan Leslie said: “We understand the financial pressures many households face.

“Aldi Scotland’s decisive action in reducing prices across a wide range of products aims to make shopping more affordable for our customers, ensuring quality and value go hand in hand.

“With nearly 500 products reduced so far in 2026, we’re helping shoppers make their money go further, without compromising on quality.”

Aldi said the price cuts underline its commitment to delivering value for Scottish shoppers while maintaining product quality.

The retailer was named Britain’s cheapest supermarket in 2025 by Which?, with the consumer champion finding the most expensive supermarket cost 35 per cent more on average than an equivalent Aldi shop.

Aldi has also been named Which?’s cheapest supermarket for January, February, March and April 2026.
