Ferrero achieves sustainability milestones in latest report
Ferrero has reported a 16,000-tonne reduction in plastic since September 2021, according to its latest annual sustainability report.
The confectionery brand introduced a box redesigned that lowered the plastic-to-product ratio by 14.7 per cent since 2019/20.
The confectionery manufacturer also has 24 plants which are now running on 100 per cent renewable grid electricity. This supports its own supply chain decarbonisation reporting requirements.
The company lowered its scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 7.2 per cent year-on-year, through energy transition efforts.
Giovanni Ferrero, president of Ferrero Group said: “Consumers are increasingly looking for brands they can trust — built on quality, good sourcing practices, careful manufacturing, and a genuine commitment to people and the planet.

“Guided by our purpose and long-term vision, we will continue supporting initiatives related to the protection of natural resources, the support of our people, communities and partners and the creation of products that delight consumers for generations to come.”
Additionally, the brand completed the first group-wide water-corporate footprint assessment and joined the Alliance for Water Stewardship.
Ferrero has supported the development of the climate transition plan, which is supported by the decarbonisation hub, a new tool that enables manufacturing sites to design and implement roadmaps to cut emissions.
Additionally, the business has carried on with its partnerships to support farming communities, including the expansion of the Save the Children programme in Côte d’Ivoire, which will grow to reach 235 cocoa-producing communities by 2030.
