Walker’s Shortbread unveils giant Scottie Dog shortbread sculpture
Scottish biscuit brand Walker’s Shortbread showcased a giant Scottie dog sculpture made from its famous shortbread at the New York City Tartan Parade on 11 April.
This was part of the brand’s celebration of 50 years of operations in the US, highlighting Walker’s Shortbread strong presence within the country.
The giant Scottie dog was unveiled by the brand’s managing director Nicky Walter at the Algonquin Hotel and was created by UK food artist Prudence Staite from over 1,400 individual shortbread biscuits.
Walker’s creates an annual statue for the Tartan Day Parade, which happens every April, previously designing a popular shortbread Empire State Building sculpture in 2024.

Nicky Walker, managing director at Walker’s Shortbread, said: “The United States holds a truly special place in the history and heart of our family business. It was our first export market, welcoming our shortbread in 1976, and it remains our largest export market today.
“To commemorate our 50th anniversary in the US, we wanted to create a truly memorable tribute during Tartan Week.
“The giant shortbread Scottie Dog celebrates our shared heritage, and we were thrilled to have Sam Heughan join us to crown the winner of the Celtic Canine Competition.”
The Tartan Day event was sponsored by Walker’s, and representatives from the business participated in the parade, marching down Sixth Avenue led by the Robert Gordon’s College pipe band.
