Waitrose has added ready-to-grill barbecue boxes to their meat and fish counters to meet the demand for products designed for summer hosting occasions.

The retailer has launched a new range including the Butchers’ BBQ Box, Fish BBQ Box and Piri Piri Spatchcock Chicken for £20, £23 and £11, respectively.

This new range was designed to cater to the growing consumer demand for various barbecue options.

The searches on the retailer’s website for ‘BBQ meat’ and ‘BBQ fish’ surged by 172 per cent and 273 per cent, respectively, reflecting a rising trend among shoppers.

Additionally, the searches for barbecue fish recipes went up by 210 per cent year-on-year on the supermarket retailer’s website.

Sophie Simmons, buyer at Waitrose, said: “We’re observing an interesting shift when it comes to our customers throwing a barbecue. It’s no longer just about standard burgers and sausages; hosts want to create a memorable, restaurant-quality experience rooted in trusted quality and sourcing.

“We’ve created the new Butchers’ BBQ Box and Fish BBQ Box to meet this maximalist demand, bringing together counter-cut quality, great value, and everything food lovers need to make summer hosting feel elevated yet effortless.”

According to the business, the range is sustainably sourced, with an MSC and ASC certification across the fish selection, including Canadian roeless scallops, sablefish, and Madagascan tiger prawns.

The Butcher’s BBQ range is now available at select Waitrose branches, and the Piri Piri Spatchcock Chicken has been stocked in Newbury and Haslemere stores.
