Sainsbury’s has partnered with Comic Relief to launch a vodcast series, A Recipe For…, which addresses food poverty in the UK, hosted by Si King (above).

As part of the series, celebrity guests will be featured alongside people working to fight food poverty in the UK and will share stories of food connection and the effects of scarcity.

Ruth Cranston, director of sustainability at Sainsbury’s said: “We’re a nation that loves food. A single taste can take us back to favourite moments with friends and family, but for the 14 million people facing food poverty in the UK, those joyful food memories are harder to come by.

“At Sainsbury’s, we believe the joy of good food should be available to everyone no matter their background or circumstance.”

She added: “That’s why we’re proud to launch A Recipe For…, a celebration of food memories from well-known voices and everyday heroes. Through this series, we’re shining a light on the incredible charities working tirelessly to tackle food poverty across the UK.

“We’re calling on our customers to help Sainsbury’s and Comic Relief fight food poverty by donating in-store, online, or with Nectar. Together we can make good food a reality for everyone.”

The series is part of Sainsbury’s collaboration scheme with Comic Relief, which has offered 59m meals through £23m funding since its launch in 2022.

Moving forward, the collaboration will help fund 4,000 Holiday Activities and Food  (HAF) places for children across the UK.

The retailer will be releasing episodes on YouTube, and recipes will be released on Sainsbury’s website. Customers will also be able to donate to the cause at the stores.
