Amazon has expanded its grocery presence in the UK with a partnership with rapid delivery operator Gopuff.

From this week, Amazon customers nationwide will be able to order a wide range of groceries, snacks, drinks and household essentials from Gopuff via the Amazon website, with deliveries arriving in under 60 minutes,  and as fast as 15 minutes in some areas.

The launch follows a trial in Birmingham and Salford earlier this year, and marks a significant expansion in Amazon’s third-party grocery proposition, with Gopuff joining existing UK partners including Morrisons, Iceland and Co-op.

The new offer aims to promise Amazon customers a full grocery shop delivered at speed, with Gopuff operating from its network of micro-fulfilment centres strategically located near major population hubs.

Shoppers can access everyday items 24/7 in many locations, with competitive pricing supported by Gopuff’s vertically integrated model.

To support the new launch, Gopuff is offering 50 core grocery lines price-matched to Aldi, along with promotions such as 50% off ice creams, 3-for-2 on selected fresh produce, and meat and fish bundles at 3 for £12,while Amazon Prime members are also being incentivised to try the service with free delivery on their first order over £20 and a 15% discount on their first six Gopuff orders.

“We are always working to give customers more choice and more convenient options to have their groceries delivered,” Amazon director of grocery partnership Russell Jones.

“Partnering with Gopuff and other grocery partners is an important way of offering Amazon customers their favourite stores and brands, ordered via our website. The new launch with Gopuff brings our customers access to a convenient and affordable way to access their everyday groceries.”

Gopuff SVP of UK and new business Alberto Menolascina added: “At Gopuff, we’ve spent the past 12 years scaling a nationwide delivery and fulfillment network to establish ourselves as the global leader in instant commerce.

“Now, we’re delighted to leverage our unique model to help millions of Amazon customers across the UK access thousands of affordable groceries in as fast as 15 minutes.”

Earlier this month, Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) revealed it has launched an investigation into Amazon over concerns it may have breached rules on delayed supplier payments.
