Aldi serves ‘biggest Dry January ever’ as 0% fizz sales triple
Aldi has delivered a record Dry January, as the discounter saw sales of its popular Zerozecco sparkling wine alternative almost triple.
The supermarket posted that the product saw an almost 190% rise year on year, selling over 200,000 glasses of 0% fizz in the first two weeks of January.
Its 0% beer range also experienced a surge in demand, with Aldi selling more than 40,000 bottles and cans every day, while its new Greyson’s Alcohol-Free ready-to-drink cans reportedly sold more than 100 cans an hour.
Aldi UK managing director of buying and incoming chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield said: “At Aldi, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable alcohol free alternatives for our customers.

“This surge in sales of our Zerozecco and other non-alcoholic options indicates a growing demand to Dry January and mindful drinking.”
Aldi’s range of alcohol free drinks includes its Zerozecco and Zerozecco Rosé (£2.99, 75cl) products, its 6 pack Rheinbacher 0% Pilsner (£2.99 330ml), and the newly launched Greyson’s Alcohol Free Pink Berries and Lemonade and Greyson’s Alcohol Free London Dry and Tonic (79p, 250ml).
The news comes after Kantar found that 11% of the population bought a no or low alcohol drink over the Christmas period, up from under 10% last year.
At Tesco, no or low alcohol sales were up more than 17% over Christmas, making it a “record Christmas” for the category at the grocer.
