Soup manufacturer Campbell’s is to restructure and reduce the size of major facilities, in a move that will see hundreds of jobs axed.

The FMCG, whose portfolio includes brands such as Campbell’s Soup, Goldcrackers and V8 juices, announced it was to resize its Jeffersonville, Indiana site and close Tualatin, Oregon site, in a move predicted to lead up to 415 job cuts, reported Reuters.

It is understood the changes are set to be carried out in phases, with Campbell’s expected to cut over a third of its employees, with 120 of 330 staff set to leave in August this year.

It will halt production in Oregon completely by July 2026.

Meanwhile, its Indiana factory is to concentrate on tortilla chips, leaving the manufacturing of kettle crisps to be moved to its Charlotte plant in North Carolina and Hanover plant in Pennsylvania – a restructuring set to lead to 85 redundancies of the 230 workers currently employed.

However, Campbell also announced it would be investing about £180m ($230m) in new facilities in 2026, which is set to create 210 new positions across the business.

The changes come amid Campbell’s meals and beverages division completing its £2.1bn ($2.7bn) acquisition of Sovos Brands in March, after receiving clearance from the Federal Trade Commission.
