Marmite Cheddar rolls out to Iceland amid range expansion

Marmite has rolled out Marmite Cheddar to Iceland as the savoury brand aims to expand its portfolio.

The new listing completes a supermarket sweep for the Unilever-owned FMCG, which is currently stocked in rival retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda, Waitrose and Tesco.

Unilever licensing manager Jolanda Wells said: “We know that the purchase intent from shoppers for products that pair Marmite and cheese is 25% higher than for Marmite alone, and we’re confident that Iceland customers will enjoy the distinctive flavour of Marmite Cheddar.

“Coming at a time when we’re expanding our portfolio of Marmite-branded products across categories, we expect in-store brand visibility to reach new heights in 2024, and now Iceland shoppers will be able to add Marmite Cheddar Cheese to their weekly shop.”

The grocery product combines the savoury spread with Ilchester Cheddar cheese with Ilchester senior brand manager Ffion Davies adding: “The listing in Iceland is very welcome and will give Iceland shoppers the chance to snap up this tasty cheese and enjoy it in a sandwich, melted on some toast or in a number of hearty dishes.”

The new product comes as the latest in a series of high-profile brand innovation and range extensions in recent years.

In 2022 the brand unveiled a new posh truffle flavour spread, and has also launched a chilli-infused Marmite Dynamite and made its first foray into peanut butter.

Marmite Cheddar Cheese 180g wedge is available at Iceland stores across the UK with an RRP of £2.50.
