5 new chocolate products: Baileys, Kellogg’s, Häagen-Dazs, Nestlé and Mars

As Baileys, Kellogg’s, Häagen-Dazs, Nestlé and Mars have dropped brand new lines in the past two weeks, Grocery Gazette rounds up what they are, how much they cost and which UK supermarkets will be stocking the chocolate products.

Baileys

Irish liqueur brand Baileys is expanding its confectionery range with the launch of its new chocolate Birthday Cake truffles.

The product consists of white chocolate shells infused with the flavour of its original Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur, alongside a traditional vanilla birthday cake flavoured truffle centre.

Baileys Chocolate marketing manager Alison Roberts said: “We recognise the importance of providing memorable and tasteful gift options, while meeting consumer demand for both quality and affordability.

“We hope the combination of two iconic flavours, Baileys and Birthday Cake, will make for a fun and exciting new option for shoppers on the hunt for the perfect token gift.”

The sweet treats will be available to purchase from selected retailers, including TK Maxx, B&M, The Range and Card Factory for RRP £4.

Kellogg’s

Kellogg’s has launched a chocolatey adaptation of its original cereal, with the introduction of its new Chocolate Flavour Corn Flakes.

Depicting Kellogg's chocolate flakesThe new addition to the cereal brand’s portfolio is non-HFSS (high in fat, salt and sugar), high in fibre and vitamin D. It is also one of the only times the brand has adapted its classic golden flakes since launching over 100 years ago.

Kellogg’s UK&I brand activation manager Emily Dutton said: “Corn Flakes holds such heritage as a brand, so we’re really pleased to be expanding the range with the introduction of a new chocolate flavour. As a non-HFSS cereal that’s high in fibre, we’re sure it’s something the whole family will enjoy.’’   

The cereal is on offer exclusively in Tesco (RRP £3.29, 450g) from next week, but will also be available from One Stop stores from 6 February.

Häagen-Dazs

Ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs is debuting a new snacking format with the arrival of its new Salted Caramel Bites and Chocolate Bites.

Häagen-Dazs Chocolate bites Prompted by an aim to cater to growing demand within the snacking sector, the two new bite-sized ice creams come in boxes of eight.

Häagen-Dazs UK head Nicole Whelan said: “As the Ice Cream of Ice Creams, Häagen-Dazs is no stranger to innovation, continually bringing ultra-indulgent flavours and tantalising textures to our consumers.

“Now, we’re thrilled to launch a totally new format, expanding our portfolio of pints, mini-cups and sticks with a new bite-sized moment of pleasure that can be enjoyed at any time of the day, week, or year. We’re confident they will fly off the freezer shelves.”

The new salted caramel and chocolate bites are now on sale in Morrisons for RRP £4, with other major supermarkets to follow in March.

Nestlé

Nestlé has unveiled the latest addition to its KitKat range, KitKat 70% Dark.

Here depicting Nestlé's limited edition KitKat DarkDebuting as a first for both KitKat and  Nestlé Confectionery in the UK and Ireland, the new dark chocolate wafer bar is made from cocoa mass sourced from families enrolled in Nestlé’s cocoa income accelerator programme.

Nestlé UK and Ireland KitKat brand manager Hannah Boyle said: “The introduction of KitKat 70% Dark to our range of iconic chocolate bars is a great way to kick off the new year. The combination of our signature crispy wafer and the rich, smooth dark chocolate creates a truly indulgent experience that we’re confident chocolate fans will love.

“And while the bar is delicious, we’re also proud of how it has been made – with cocoa mass sourced from families enrolled in the income accelerator programme. While chocolate fans enjoy their KitKat 70% Dark, they can learn a little bit more about how their break is helping to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farming families and their communities by scanning the QR code on the pack.”

The new chocolate wafer bar has gone on sale exclusively in Sainsbury’s.

Mars

Confectionery company Mars has expanded its branded ice cream range with the launch of a new Malteser product.

Depicting Maltesers Ice CreamThe new Maltesers Ice Cream combines its namesake malt-flavoured chocolate with mini honeycomb pips, covered in chocolate.

Mars chocolate drinks and treat general manager Michelle Frost said: “Our range of branded ice cream bars has continued to grow in popularity, particularly sold as take-home multipacks.

“It is our most popular format, and coupled with the popularity of the Maltesers brand, we see a great opportunity to appeal to ice cream and confectionery fans alike with the launch of Maltesers Ice Cream bar in 2024.”

The frozen treat, which is available both single (RSP £2.00) and multipack (RSP £2.50), can be purchased from Asda and Morrisons, before rolling out to Sainsbury’s, Iceland and Co-op from March.
