Just Eat has enabled UK customers to claim over £4.9m worth of free food items as part of its ‘Freebie Friday’ campaign.

The promotion gives customers the opportunity to receive a free menu item every Friday when ordering from participating supermarkets, restaurants or convenience stores.

Since its launch this autumn, over 12,000 of the rapid delivery firm’s partners now participate in ‘Freebie Friday’.

Breakfast options include a regular latte from Caffe Nero or a hash brown from McDonalds, while customers can claim items such as Pizza Express dough balls, KFC popcorn chicken or Leon waffle fries during the day.

There is no limit to the amount of free items customers can claim each Friday as long as the qualifying minimum spend is met for each order.

To mark Black Friday, the promotion will be extended across the entire weekend from 24 to 27 November.

Just Eat UK and IE marketing director Victoria Gold said: “As shoppers are understandably becoming more value-conscious, we want to ensure we’re making it easy for customers to enjoy their favourite food delivered from the places they love. Providing ultimate convenience and value to customers is at the heart of what we do.

“Freebie Friday gives our customers a reason to celebrate that Friday feeling, safe in the knowledge that they’re getting great value for money from their favourite restaurants and grocers.”

This comes as Just Eat unveiled a new trial earlier this month with Asda and the Lego Group to offer a rapid toy delivery just ahead of Christmas.
