Majestic partners with Uber Eats to accelerate on-demand delivery service

Majestic has inked a partnership with Uber Eats to offer its expansive range of wines, beers and spirits through the speedy delivery app.

Customers are now able to shop the retailer’s offering through the platform, with orders set to arrive in as little as 20 minutes.

The partnership has initially launched in eight stores – Birmingham, Brighton, Cambridge, Clapham, Esher, Notting Hill, St John’s Wood and Westbury-on-Trym – and will be rolled to a total of 177 stores by October.

As part of the deal, Majestic will be the headline drinks partner for Uber Eats, meaning that it will permanently feature at the top of the alcohol section of the app.

The new partnership comes as Majestic seeks to build on the online growth it has experienced since the pandemic, opening over 70 new stores in the UK in the last 12 months – as well as capitalising on the growing demand among consumers seeking local delivery solutions.

The wine retailer’s ecommerce sales accounted for over 20% of its retail revenue in its most recent financial year thanks to the increasing popularity of its Shop Local proposition. The service allows customers to shop the stock available at their local store, in real time, for free collection within four hours or next-day home delivery.

Majestic chief operating officer, Rob Cooke, said: “Our mission at Majestic is to help people discover and buy wines, beers and spirits they will love, and this partnership with Uber Eats will allow us to deliver to even more households whenever they need us.

“We know that our online customers value the flexibility of shopping the stock available at their local stores in real time – now they have the added convenience of being able to get our award-winning wines delivered to their doorsteps in as little as 20 minutes.

“It’s a combination we know our customers will love and we are looking forward to rolling out the partnership with Uber Eats across the UK.”

It comes as Uber Eats teams up with a wide range of retailers in the UK, such as Co-op, Waitrose and Iceland.
