Majestic Wine looks for 76 new store locations across the UK

Majestic has announced its expansion plans as it looks to open 76 new store locations across the UK.

Last month, the wine retailer opened two stores in Haywards Heath and Godalming and now looks to its customers for help in its hunt for new locations.

Offering its shoppers a year’s supply of wine if they can find a new site, Majestic will be adding to its current 201 UK shops despite rising costs and shrinking consumer budgets.

In 2019, Majestic was bought by private equity firm, Fortress which has since helped to improve its expertise with over 1,000 Wine and Spirit Education Trust trained colleagues working in its current stores.

The new ownership also saw more customer in-store engagement with tasting counters reinstalled in a bid to display and offer new wines.

“Responding to consumer demand, we’ve opened two new stores this month, but we aren’t stopping there,” Majestic chief executive officer, John Colley said.

“In addition to the new stores already in our pipeline, we’ve got our eye on a further 76 potential locations across the country and are calling on the UK’s wine lovers to help us find sites so that we can offer more people a place to taste and discover new wines, beers, and spirits with guidance from our expert staff.”

He said the company remains “optimistic”, despite consumer budgets continuing to tighten.

Colley added: “Customers are returning to physical stores with enthusiasm, seeking out the advice of our expert staff to discover the real value in their wine choices.”
