In pictures: First look inside Tesco’s new Coronation-themed pub

Ahead of the coronation of King Charles III, Tesco is opening the doors to its first ever pub, The King in the Castle.

Officially open to the public from today (4 May) for the two days leading up to the coronation, all proceeds made will go to the leading retailer’s charity partner, The Prince’s Trust.

Located in Farringdon, London, the limited-time only event looks to bring people together to celebrate the historic occasion.

The pub will offer a coronation-themed menu, featuring products from Tesco’s limited-edition food range such as pork pies and trifles.

The supermarket giant is also set to donate £250,000 from proceeds of the range, which is available in stores nationwide, to The Prince’s Trust.

Offering both daytime and evening menus, the first will feature a Royal High Tea with a tea-inspired cocktail served in a tea pot, alongside cakes, scones and sandwiches.

Prices start from 50p for sweet treats and £1 for nibbles, while daytime options such as Ploughman’s platters can be purchased for £8 and a Royal High Tea and teapot cocktail for £10 per head.

In the evening, Tesco will offer a gastropub-style elevated dining experience with a selection of starters, mains, desserts and cocktails.

This evening menu includes items such as Camilla’s King Prawn Curry, a Roast SIR’loin Steak, as well as a trifle bellini and a gin martini.

The pub itself will be decorated in hanging floral displays and bunting throughout, and outside the venue there will be sampling stations for passers-by to try bite-sized portions of the menu.

While bookings sold out within hours of the initial announcement of the pub’s opening, walk-in sittings will also be available on both 4 and 5 May.
