Allplants surpass 6 million meals sold after launching in Ocado and Planet Organic

Allplants have surpassed six million meals sold within three months of launching in Ocado, Planet Organic and many independent stores across the UK.

The plant-powered brand is capitalising on the demand for frozen foods, as it was the second-most purchased brand in the frozen food ready meal category in at online retailer Ocado last year.

The makers of gourmet frozen meals recently called out players in the ultra-processed food market in its recent campaign, showing shoppers that ready meals can be both healthy, equally exciting, and full of flavour.

Since launching in 2017, allplants has established itself as a key player in the sector, carving out a new space for the unconventional ready meal.

A survey commissioned by the brand found that 70% of Brits worry about ‘hidden nasties’ in their food, while 87% think ready meals should be healthier, and over half of adults think the government should introduce legislation for ready meals to only contain wholefoods.

With consumers seeking out health-conscious, convenient meals, allplants have found that Brits are seeking more protein-based plant-fuelled options, with their top-performing dish of 2022 being their Protein Power Bowl.

“In the six years that we’ve been cooking our meals, we’ve created demand for more plant-based food options that are nutritious and high quality,” founder and CEO of allplants, Jonathan Petrides said.

“Consumers are looking for familiar, healthy plant alternatives to the dishes they know and love, which is exactly what we’re delivering.”

“Since launching with Ocado and other retailers last year, this has only been cemented further, and we’re overwhelmed with the positive response to our dishes.

He added: “Food choices are deeply personal, so quality and taste will always come first for us – it’s the driver of everything we do, and what makes it so easy for our customers to include more plants in their baskets without any compromise.”

“It has Europe’s largest plant-based kitchen, specialising in high-quality, chef-prepared ready-to-heat meals at affordable prices.

“The brand has risen through the ranks since securing a record-breaking £38m in funding in 2021 – the largest investment in a plant-based food company in Europe,” Petrides commented.

Last month, allplants re-launched its ‘Not At School Dinners’ campaign to help fight holiday hunger during half term.
