Nescafé launches new refill pouch with 60% less plastic

Nescafé has launched an instant coffee refill pouch that can be recycled in stores and uses less packaging.

The new 150g refill pouch, which is being introduced across its Gold Blend and Original varients, is 97% lighter than the brand’s current 200g glass coffee jar and has on average 60% less plastic than the jar’s lid.

The resealable pack will help to preserve freshness and once empty, can be recycled in over 5,000 stores across the UK and through kerbside collection in Ireland.

The Nescafé Gold Blend refill pouch is available now across all major retailers, with the Original format rolling out in stores from the end of March.

“We know that Nescafé lovers are getting more concerned about the sustainability credentials of the products they consume,” Nescafé marketing director soluble coffee, Sophie Demoulin said.

“We are therefore really proud to launch this new coffee pack that offers our fans the same great coffee and the iconic rich aroma that they love in less packaging whilst offering better value for money.”

This comes as part of the coffee brand’s ongoing packaging sustainability commitments, which includes reducing its use of virgin plastic by one third by 2025.
