Premier Foods expands plant-based range with new Plantastic sauces

Premier Foods is expanding its plant-based offering with three new Plantastic pasta sauces, addressing the demand for consumers looking for plant-based alternatives in the cooking sauce category.

According to parent company and manufacturer Premier Foods, 31% of people believe that plant-based food doesn’t taste as good as non-plant-based, a perception which the plant-based brand is looking to change.

The plant-based food sector is currently valued at £1.79bn and is estimated to reach £2bn by 2024, while the cooking sauces category is now worth £992 million.

Plantastic’s Creamy Pasta Sauces have been launched in response to this demand, providing 1 of your 5 a day (half a jar) and contain no artificial colours or preservatives.

The creamy, quick and versatile sauces are available in three flavours: Tomato & Chargrilled Pepper, Spicy Cajun Tomato and Caramelised Onion & Sweet Potato.

“We have created this range of unique sauces which deliver creaminess, without the use of dairy, to ensure that plant-based consumers don’t have to comprise on taste,” brand director for plant-based food at Premier Foods, Hong Sim said.

“Our mission is to popularise plant-based by offering products that respond to the demand for great taste, convenience, and quality. We have done exactly that by introducing the brand into a new category in three flavours within the grocery sector.”

Sim added: “This new range aims to attract new customers into the cooking sauces category whilst offering a solution to those looking for plant-based products that will deliver on taste.”

The new launch comes as Premier Foods has added new Ambrosia and Angel Delight variants to it’s line-up of exclusive desserts.
