Lidl is expanding its ‘Good to Give’ initiative to include hygeine products as demand for these items soar among UK charities.
The scheme which was originally launched in partnership with Neighbourly last year to increase food bank donations, will now be covering a wider variety of products to help tackle hygeine poverty.
From 16 March, the Good to Give signage will be featured on price tickets for 10 essential sanitary and personal care items including tampons, toothpaste and nappies.
These products can be dropped at existing donation points located past checkouts in all Lidl GB stoes and collected by charity volunteers who also collect food donations weekly.

This comes as research by the giving platform found that 72% of local charities report a need for both toiletries and food as the most vital categories in supporting communities through the cost-of-living crisis.
As part of the initiative, the discount grocer is providing £50,000 worth of grants for local organisations working to tackle hygeine poverty in their communities, within its network coordinated by Neighbourly.
The funding looks to help these causes make key items such as period products, shower gel and toothpaste available to those in need.
“With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to put pressure on local communities, we want to go beyond our commitment to making good food accessible to everyone by looking at other support we can provide,” Lidl GB senior CRS manager, Mark Newbold said.
“Hygeine poverty is the daily reality for over 3.2 million adults in this country, and our charity partners working day in day out with those in need have told us that the problem is only growing.
“We hope that by providing grants and encouraging our customers to once again donate a little differently, we can get more local charities more of these basic yet vital products.
