Over 70,000 shoppers have queued online at Aldi to buy its Kevin the Carrot toys featured in the discount grocer’s 2022 Christmas advert.
The “extremely high” demand for the toys also saw hundreds queuing outside Aldi stores across the country.
By 10am, many of the products including ‘Kevin & Katie The Carrot’ and ‘Plush Christmas Footballer Set’ which features ‘Ronadli’, ‘Bean’, ‘Messy’, ‘Marrowdona and ‘MmmBAP’ had sold out online.

Some keen shoppers were lining up outside stores as early as 5:30am as one customer tweeted: “I queue up for new consoles and games, my wife queues up at 5.30am for Kevin the Carrot from Aldi.”

While some were struck with wait times and sold out items, others were quick to share the success of their shop online with some purchasing almost the entire selection.

Last week, Aldi launched its festive themed advert which nods to the iconic ‘Home Alone’ Christmas film as Kevin the Carrot is stranded at home while his family jet off on holiday.
This comes as many other grocery retailers have launched merchandise that ties to their Christmas adverts as earlier this month, discount grocer Lidl unveiled its Lidl-branded Christmas jumper.
Costing £7.99, this follows on from its 2021 festive jumper which was the fastest-selling item from the retailer’s famous middle aisles, with one jumper selling every two seconds on the day of its in-store release
