Spar announces digital partnership to re-develop its UK and NI websites

Spar has partnered with Bristol-based agency, Mentor Digital in a bid to completely re-design its UK and Northern Ireland corporate websites.

The world’s largest retail food chain, Spar will be working with Mentor Digital on its ongoing strategy to deliver creative, technical, and digital marketing solutions.

With 2,600 stores across the UK, Spar plans to revamp its digital presence to support local communities by nurturing neighbourhoods, creating community hubs, promoting health and wellbeing campaigns, showcasing special offers and driving footfall to stores.

Mentor Digital will aid these plans through re-designing modern web applications and providing search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing support.

“We are absolutely delighted to be adding Spar to our client portfolio and it really feels like we are levelling up as an agency taking on clients of this calibre,” Mentor’s managing director Holland Risley said.

“The design work is already looking really exciting, we are focusing on bringing depth and quality to the sites by using micro UX, emotive design and parallax effects and we are really looking forward to launching the new look Spar websites later this year.”

In preparation for the websites’ launch, the partners are undergoing a process of stakeholder engagement, user research, design, and prototyping.

Mentor Digital are creating mobile responsive prototypes, ensuring the sites will be fully user tested on mobile devices and desktops.

The agency’s UX testing team will also be carrying out mobile device guerrilla testing, including with specialist cameras and eye tracking systems to ensure the website is clear and user friendly.

The news comes as Spar has announced the winners of its ‘Community Cashback’ scheme, awarding 30 grants totaling to £100,000 to local voluntary and community organisations who need it most.
