Innocent names Nick Canney as CEO

Innocent Drinks has promoted Nick Canney as its new CEO.

Canney has been with the FMCG giant for seven years and until recently, was leading the company’s European business.

As ‘chief squeezer’, he’ll be focusing on growing the business and continue to make natural and sustainable drinks, the company revealed.

He started his journey at Innocent in January 2015 where he held the position of managing director of UK and Ireland, being promoted to European managing director in 2019.

In a statement Innocent said: “This is Nick Canney, our new chief squeezer. And no, that doesn’t mean he squeezes all the oranges, mangoes and bananas into our drinks by hand. It’s just the name we give to our CEO here at innocent. Although, we have shaken hands with Nick a few times and reckon he could squeeze the life out of some fruit if he wanted to.

“Alongside his new job and unusual job title, we also gave him a big wooden block with his name written on it. Don’t say we never give you anything, Nick.

“Nick has been at innocent for seven years and was leading our European business until just a few weeks ago. As chief squeezer, he’ll be focusing on growing the business and helping us make our big dreams a reality – which means continuing to make naturally tasty drinks responsibly and sustainably.”

Prior to Innocent, Canney spent just under four years at Coca-Cola Enterprises, holding vice president positions in sales and marketing.

He has also worked at Cadbury’s from 2009- 2011.

The statment continued: “Another obligation that comes with the job is having to pose for photos whenever we want to post something about the business on social media – like this very bad selfie from our company meeting.

“We’re delighted with this part as it means we get to spend more quality time with him. We think he’s delighted too. He hasn’t said it yet, but we can read between the lines.”
