Unite has hailed the Co-op’s recent “inflation-busting” pay rise for over 1000 of its lorry drivers as a success.
The trade union reported that the drivers will be receiving a five per cent pay increase backdated from February 1 2021.
It also said that an additional five per cent increase will be payable from November 1 2021.
The organisation has confirmed that the pay rise is set to include all unsocial hours alongside weekend working premiums.

According to Unite, the next pay deal for Co-op’s drivers is scheduled for August 2022.
“This is an excellent result for our driver members at the Co-op and demonstrates what can be achieved through negotiation when workers are organised,” Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said.
“Lorry drivers have had to endure low pay and poor conditions for far too long.
“Unite is dedicated to putting the jobs, pay and conditions of its members first.
“There is no way that Unite will accept continuing low pay and poor conditions for its lorry driver members.”
Unite national officer Adrian Jones added: “The union is determined to ensure that the campaign for better wages and conditions will continue until it is successful.”
