Asda launches Welsh Supplier Development Programme
Asda has partnered with Food and Drinks Wales to help companies across the country grow their businesses.
The Welsh Supplier Development Programme will include over 30 local suppliers from across Wales, who will share information on topics such as compliance and marketing to product development, logistics and account management.
The programme is supported by the Welsh government and will run over three days between August and October. Venues will include Asda’s Coryton store in Cardiff and its Chepstow depot.
As part of the scheme, suppliers will meet Asda’s senior directors and general store managers to talk about their business proposals and receive one-to-one feedback on their propositions and advice on where to improve.

During the visit to Chepstow, suppliers will gain insight on the supply chain and logistics, and a final day at the supermarket’s headquarters in Leeds will be centred around finance, trading and Asda systems.
One of the suppliers selected for the programme was Carmarthen brand Tovali Soft Drinks, which has sold its dilutable squash to Asda for over 13 years.
Other companies which are enrolled in the scheme are South Caernarfon Creameries’ Dragon Cheese, Popty Conwy Bakery, Cardiff drinks company Lowes Pop and Radnor Hills.
Maisie McNab, Asda local buyer for Wales, said: “Bringing local products to our customers and making them accessible is a key priority, and this bespoke programme, one which will see us working closely with producers is an exciting opportunity to share hands-on and practical advice, helping suppliers unlock their full potential.
“The initiative comes with a focus on growth and opportunity, developing skills within companies across Wales.”
