Aldi unveils jacket that transforms into bag for life
Aldi’s new Swag For Life jacket is designed to save the UK shoppers who regularly forget their shopping bags.
Responding to research that shows nearly half (46 per cent) of shoppers forget their bags for the weekly shop, Aldi’s limited-edition jacket is designed to offer “a stylish solution”. This “innovative” jacket transforms into a reusable bag.
The new Aldi study into UK shopping habits has revealed 85 per cent of UK consumers have a ‘bag of bags’ at home. While, almost half of those polled admit to buying another reusable bag at least once a month after forgetting theirs. This jumps to 69 per cent among Gen Z. Nearly half (47 per cent) reveal they have cupboards full of unused carriers gathering dust at home.
Those in Yorkshire and Northern Ireland top the list of those most likely to buy a new bag after forgetting theirs, with one in five revealing they buy a new bag at least once a week.
Meanwhile Londoners are named the most likely group to specifically go back home after forgetting a bag, with 44 per cent unwilling to add another bag to their collection.
While many people have cupboards stuffed with carrier bags, they can also be surprisingly loyal to their favourites, with 62 per cent saying they have a reusable bag they always reach for — whether it’s because it’s sturdy (52 per cent), they love the design (26 per cent) or simply because it’s been by their side for years (18 per cent).
